Description:
Skilled musicians from across Brazil volunteer to give their free time to teach music to the interested students ranging in age from 6 to 70. Global Crossroad volunteers can be students, too, and learn Brazilian music with the rest of the class. Adequate classroom facilities are available for instruction. Volunteers will teach groups of 15-20 students, both children and adults, either in the morning or afternoon. Volunteer will participate in music classes for 2 hours each day, either as a student, as an assistant, or both. Volunteers may also have the opportunity to help students with conversational English as an extracurricular activity for about 2 hours each day. All resources are provided; however, English language teaching materials are scarce. Volunteers may consider bringing books, magazines, and any other teaching resources available.

Typical Volunteer: Volunteers will work either in the mornings or in the afternoons on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., with an occasional assignment on a Saturday morning. Volunteers may return home proficient in playing the violin or piano, or having learned how to play Brazilian drums or other ethnic instruments.
