Description: Carry out tree planting activities, work on community development projects, build a volunteer centre are just some of the volunteer opportunities available through Concordia in Bangladesh.

What is Concordia?

Concordia is a small not-for-profit charity whose aims are to bring people together from different countries to help break down cultural stereotypes and promote greater international understanding and peace.

Our International Volunteer Programme offers volunteers aged 18+ the opportunity to join international teams of volunteers working on short-term projects in over 60 countries world-wide. A selection of projects is available for teenagers aged 16 and 17. The project range is diverse and includes nature conservation, restoration, archaeology, construction, art and culture as well as projects that are more socially based including childrens play-schemes, teaching and working with adults and children with special needs.

Projects last for 2-4 weeks with the main season from June to September and smaller programme in winter/spring. Volunteers pay a registration fee of £110 and fund their own travel. Board and accommodation is free of charge. Projects are located all over Europe, North and South America, Asia and Africa.

Qualifications: Volunteers must be resident in the UK in order to apply.Generally no specific skills or experience necessary although real motivation and commitment to the project are a must.

Volunteers who want to join a project in Bangladesh must attend a preparation weekend in Brighton (dates available in February, June and July 2007).

Cost in US$: GBP 110 Registration fee + GBP 30 Preparation Weekend fee + approx US$200 extrafee payable to the local organisation
