Description:
Looking for a volunteer opportunity, but tired of having to pay $$ up front for it' Volunteer in beautiful Costa Rica as an ESL Instructor for the Sarapiqui Conservation Learning Center! ESL Instructor responsible for afternoon classes at public elementary school and adult classes in the evening. The SCLC seeks volunteers dedicated to the principles of sustainable development. Each staff member has primary duties but work together on many of our programs. In fact, we encourage volunteers to become involved in as many facets of the SCLC as possible. Montly stipend provides for basic living expenses; all you have to pay for is personal expenses and transportation here.
Highlights:
Volunteers commit to a minimum stay of six months and receive a stipend that covers basic living expenses (room, board, and laundry). As a volunteer, we place you with a local family so you may learn about Costa Rican culture, improve your Spanish, and become part of the community. Some weekends may be used to travel beautiful Costa Rica and a one week vacation is provided every 3 months.
Qualifications:
Position of Volunteer ESL Instructor: - Recognized ESL Certification or experience teaching with children, teenagers and adults. - Advanced Beginner level Spanish skills. - Ability to write and update ESL curriculum and search for new materials for classes. - Willingness and desire to assist with other SCLC programs. - True volunteer spirit and dedication to environmental conservation.

Typical Volunteer: The SCLC incorporates many different programs and consequently has many different types of volunteers. Most volunteers are college graduates with some experience in the area of their program and all with an open mind to environmental conservation.
