* Nurse (1 position): Position entails oversight of medical issues in a Christian boarding school for high potential but underachieving students. Activities include minor medical treatment, tracking of medical records and information, coordinating and transporting students to appointments, monitoring of medications and school/parent medical concerns, role-modeling, and relationship development in a Christian environment. Position may entail a small amount of teaching in an appropriate subject area at the on-campus school. Appropriate medical training, licensing, and experience desired in a qualified candidate. Position is currently open.

Highlights: * The School

New Horizons Academy (NHA) is a Christian, therapeutic, co-educational boarding school licensed by the State of Indiana. It is one of three different types of inter-related schools developed by New Horizons Ministries. The NHA campus is located in a beautiful wooded setting about three and one half miles southeast of Marion, Indiana.

The remarkable success of NHA derives from its Biblical principles. Warm acceptance in a supportive setting stimulates students' growth and maturity. Students learn the value of character and integrity while undergoing intense academic training, personal counseling and Christian teaching. Enrollments are possible any month but are accepted for no less than one school year.

* Residential Life

New Horizons Academy has four beautiful residences. Male and female students live separately in each home with 8-12 other students along with their house-parents. These closely-knit family units help develop students' relationship skills, foster feelings of self-worth and augment personal Christian growth.

* Education

Education follows the tutorial method of small stimulating classes which allows for close student supervision and individual instruction. This intensive program not only gives fulfilling success experiences that lift self-esteem, but also greatly enhances the prognosis for future academic achievement. Teaching staff are accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International and cover all major subject areas, including special education. Proximity to two excellent Christian universities provides a convenient, monitored transition for secondary level students interested in college.

* Social Services

This department of full-time counselors and social workers is augmented, as needed, by community therapists and consultants. Social Services provides weekly individual counseling and 3-4 group therapy sessions, crisis counseling as needed, individual case conference reviews every four months and regular progress reports.

* Work & Recreation

Strong character and integrity are built by developing good work ethics. NHA provides this valuable training through daily house and school chores as well as other on-campus projects. Students learn to become team players which becomes a valuable asset to them after they leave the Academy and begin their own work careers.

Work time is balanced with recreation. Community service projects, sports activities (basketball, baseball, etc.), bi-annual retreats, seasonal functions, picnics, house trips and much more provide students with a well-rounded schedule of recreational and developmental activities!

* Staff

The staff of New Horizons Academy are dedicated Christians with appropriate educational backgrounds and a willingness to serve. Their solid moral character and caring attitudes make them positive role models for our students. While carrying out their various roles, staff members help provide uplifting relationships, supervision and instruction. Staff-student ratio is one-to-one.

* Parental Counseling

New Horizons seeks to ensure family growth and unity. Monthly parent meetings are held at different locations. Parents are encouraged to attend a meeting near their home. Individual counseling sessions (over the phone or personal visits) are also available to parents.

* Financial

Tuition is moderate and some scholarship assistance is available. Most families find their costs to be tax deductible.

Qualifications: The qualifications necessary for our various opportunities varies. Our basic qualifications are that participants are willing to serve our Lord and be a daily witness to others. We also ask that they be willing to hold others accountable to the Word, this includes students and peers.
