Description:
Learn Spanish, get a TEFL qualification, learn about sustainable development and experience Mayan culture in and around Tulum on the beautiful Mayan Riviera in Mexico. The GVI TEFL is tailored to indigenous community work. After comprehensive training assist in creating and running programs to promote the concept of sustainable development, as well as increased awareness about the impact of tourism on Mayan culture and natural resources. Use your skills and knowledge to educate tourists and locals on Mayan culture and promote sustainable development. Activities include giving free English language lessons to the local community, holding sustainable development seminars and supplying information on local flora and fauna and assisting in the creation of sustainable, locally run businesses. The expedition runs in collaboration with GVI's local partners: award winning Amigos de Sian Ka'an, CONANP, Casa de la Cultura Tulum, and the state university (UQROO).

Qualifications:
GVI training is comprehensive and second to none. Expedition Members will receive full training in all areas necessary to successfully conduct and complete the required work. Areas in which Expedition Members are trained include: Basic conversational Spanish; Limited conversational Mayan; Teaching techniques; Coastal habitats and marine ecosystems; Local flora and fauna; Sustainable development; Emergency first aid; All Expedition Members will need to qualify and will gain certification in Emergency First Aid to an internationally recognized level.
