Description:
Improve your scuba diving skills and learn marine survey techniques when you join GVIs marine conservation expedition in the Mayan village of Mahahual. At this new biosphere reserve you will receive comprehensive training and increase your knowledge of marine habitats and conservation. Rescue Diver, Dive Master and PADI speciality courses are also available. Daily activities include coral and fish surveys and awareness projects in the local community. Expedition members are needed for 5, 10 and 15 weeks and internships are also available. This expedition follows on from the success of GVIs Marine Research Expedition in the Sian Kaan Biosphere Reserve at Pez Maya and continues to support and assist the work of local non-profits including Amigos de Sian Kaan (ASK), the local state university of Quintana Roo (UQROO), and the National Commission for the Conservation of Natural Protected Areas (CONANP), as well as international NGOs and universities on the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef Survey.

Qualifications:
Expedition members for this expedition will need to be qualified to at least PADI Advanced Open Water or its equivalent; however GVIs comprehensive training programme will provide Expedition members with all the skills necessary for expedition life, such as marine survey techniques.
