Description:
Based in the beautiful area of Praia do Forte in Brazil, this project gives volunteers an opportunity to get involved in the long term conservation of the humpback whales. With the option to join for 2 or 3 weeks, you will spend much of your time out on the sea (weather permitting) where you will be observing whales, collecting data on their behaviour, bio-acoustic monitoring and developing the picture identification library. Volunteers also assist in the fields of environmental education and office based administrative tasks, including the entering of new data. This is a great opportunity for people with a desire to work in marine / cetacean conservation.

Qualifications:
No special skills are required but volunteers must be interested in cetaceans and environmental / marine conservation. Volunteers must be reasonably fit and be able to work as a team. Biology background, some Spanish/Portuguese and boat experience would all be a bonus. All volunteers will be given an introductory presentation on humpback whales, and further detail about the research projects. All necessary boat / research training is also given.

Cost Include Description:
This will cover all costs between collection at Salvador airport (1 hour away) and delivery there at the end of the trip. Accommodation and breakfast at the nearby youth hostel.
