Description:
Learn Spanish and volunteer to work on practical conservation programs in one of the world's finest habitats: the Galapagos Islands. You will be based on the Island of San Cristobal living and working among incredible wildlife including iguanas, tortoises, sea lions and a huge variety of birdlife. Volunteer work includes; data field research, environmental education, community service, plant conservation and reserve maintenance along with the smaller objectives such as the promotion of biodiversity conservation, research, education and community programs. Volunteers will receive one week of intensive Spanish classes in Quito on arrival in Ecuador which can be extended at your own choice, this is followed by an orientation on the islands, before the project work begins. The program provides practical experience for people interested in contributing to conservation projects and will give you the chance to live and work alongside local communities to protect important forest habitats in the unique environment of these enchanted islands.
