Work Groups - Service Trips to Central America
El Salvador
Duration of Program: 1-2 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 1-2 weeks
Dates: Various during our workgroup season March-November '08, contact us for detailed and up to date work group schedule
Description:
The group is given pre-departure educational materials to help them prepare for the trip. While in-country, our staff works with the group and the community members to construct a much needed school in a rural community. Often entire families from the community come to help out, which provides a wonderful opportunity to become friends and play with the children. The group will decide together where to take field trips in the afternoons and on a weekend - they may visit with local community leaders, visit museums, hike and swim and visit places of great natural beauty, visit craft markets, and visit places important in the history of El Salvador.

The only qualifications are desire to help and learn. Some volunteers speak Spanish and some do not. Some volunteers have construction experience, and many do not.
