Description:
Learn to scuba dive on the world's second largest barrier reef. Help towards the long term conservation of the Mayan Riviera. Exciting marine research projects combined with local community interaction and breathtaking scenery in the Sian Kaan biosphere reserve. The remote expedition base at Pez Maya is set in the jungle with views of the Caribbean sea. Ideal for expedition members with no previous scuba diving experience. Activities include; coral reef and fish monitoring, turtle nesting and crocodile surveys, community education and sustainable development of local tourism. Comprehensive dive and science training is included with an option to become qualified up to PADI Dive Master. This expedition is run in conjunction with and supports the work of CONANP, the government's National Commission for the Protection of Natural Protected Areas, local NGO ASK and universities, sharing data to help them achieve their aims. Expedition members are needed for 5-15 weeks, internships are also available.
