Description:
The Global Volunteer Network currently has teaching English opportunities available through our partner organization in China. This will give you a chance to make an important contribution to the people of China and while doing so gain an in depth experience of the country and its culture, that will stay with you the rest of your life. This program is located in Shandong Province and you can teach the English language at a primary, secondary and university level in either a rural or urban school. We also have placements available in orphanage schools. These children are disadvantaged and would especially benefit from your volunteer efforts. Yantai, lying at the eastern tip of Shandong Peninsula, is a beautiful coastal region. Bordered by the Yellow Sea and the Bohai Sea, she faces South Korea and Japan across the water. Yantai is important as an agricultural, industrial, commercial, and scientific centre, and is also a popular tourist destination with spectacular scenery. The region has opened up to western business successfully, but has retained a distinctly Chinese essence. Yantai has a mild and pleasant climate, and is well known for producing quality silk, fine seafood, wine and apples.
