Description:
Located on the beautiful Sarapiqui River, the Sarapiqui Conservation Learning Center is looking for a volunteer to become our new Environmental Education Coordinator. This volunteer will help the Center develop the program and implement conservation and environmental education ideals into the Center's other programs such as after-school, community development and tourism. This includes creating curriculum and teaching environmental education classes in Spanish to local children and teens, assisting community members in the formation and development of local conservation projects, and involving tourists in theses projects.
Highlights:
In your free time, the volunteer can enjoy the Sarapiqui River and the nearby rainforest reserve. You will work with a small international staff and have the freedom to put your own personal touch on the environmental education program. You will also have the chance to live with a local Costa Rican family and improve your Spanish speaking skills.
Qualifications:
Preferred applicants will have the following qualifications: - Undergraduate degree with a science background - Experience working with children and planning activities and projects - Ability to write, update and search for new curriculum materials and program development - Advanced level of Spanish - Computer skills, GIS a plus
