Typical Duration of Program: 3-6 months

Description:
Kenya is one of the most beautiful and politically stable countries in East Africa. It borders Tanzania, Ethiopia and Uganda and has a wonderfully varied landscape with some of Africa's finest game reserves. Following the success of our programmes in Tanzania, we have been contacted by the Office of the President and invited to send volunteers to the Southern Rift Valley region, around Bomet and south of Nakuru. Our volunteers are currently working in three schools located in the magnificent forested and hilly landscape of the region. These are all secondary schools, which mean that all the classes are taught in English and volunteers can teach a variety of subjects, including English, math, history, sports and music. In addition to teaching, volunteers can also organize cultural trips for students in this beautiful and safe region and there are plenty of opportunities for personal travel and leisure. All of our projects are community based giving volunteers the chance to learn from, as well as teach, the local people. Tianna Sheer and Scott Braunagel, from USA (Kapkesosio - March to June) 'We loved teaching, living with the family and then also having an opportunity to go traveling. The trip for the school to the Maasai Mara was wonderful. It really gave the kids and school a positive goal and status in the community. Our school was very appreciative!'
